As we follow the British National Curriculum, we prepare our students to sit IGCSEs and A-Levels examinations, which are equivalent to the Spanish ESO and Bachillerato. Our students are granted university access without having to take the Spanish Selectividad exam. They also obtain both Spanish and British qualifications allowing them to apply to any European university.
INFANTS AND PRIMARY (SUMMATIVE AND FORMATIVE ASSESSMENTS)
Summative Assessment will be used to assess the skills children have been developing over the term and provide us with a snapshot of where students are at this point in time compared to at the start of the year.
We also use formative assessment throughout the year, allowing students to take greater ownership of their learning. As the teachers clarify learning targets and share feedback, the students can identify gaps in their own learning and formative assessment focuses on how to close those gaps.
As we work with each child we gain a greater and more solid understanding of their abilities, their strengths and weaknesses. The British curriculum is based on a spiral model which constantly increases and develops children’s knowledge, skills and understanding.
Assessment should be used as a tool that allows us as teachers to focus on what children need to learn next.
IGCSEs are the international equivalent to the Spanish Secondary Education Diploma. This certificate is given to our students at the end of Year 11. Together with Spanish, Valencian and Social Studies, our students obtain double qualification in Spanish and English.
A-Levels are the equivalent to the Spanish Bachillerato. It is a 2-year course. The first year, our students sit the A/S, which is a qualification in itself. The second year, students sit the A2 and together with the A/S obtain their qualification.
